No. You do not need a GP referral. Anyone over the age of 5 (and most younger children on request) can book microsuction directly with us in Altrincham. Suitability is confirmed by the clinician at the start of the appointment.

What to bring
- Anything you have used (e.g. olive-oil bottle) so the clinician knows what is in the canal.
- A note of any ear surgery, perforated eardrum or recent ear infections.
- If you wear hearing aids, bring them — we can clean and reseat after the procedure.

Microsuction is for ear wax removal. If your main symptom is something else — sudden hearing loss, ear pain with fever, ringing tinnitus on one side, or fluid leaking from the ear — please contact your GP first or 111 in the UK, because those symptoms may need medical assessment rather than wax removal.
